No game night at Ray's, so we decided to play a few games at my house, we haven't played Aladdin's Dragons in a while so we pulled that out.

LAN Night: Saturday 4-12-2003

Greatest LAN party ever.

The fun started at about 2pm with Unreal Badlands (the old west mod for UT).  When Neal showed up with his tiny box, we learned that UT does not run under 2000 with Nvidia.  So, from that point it was 1942 all the way.  Not a moment of boredom either.  Players kept joining as the day went on and by 8pm we had 10 people in!  We finally stopped at about 11:30pm.  (We had to pull an extra hub out of storage!)

I really liked the battlefield CTF, but others preferred the normal match type.  Lots of beer was consumed and we even had a new player.  Ryan works with Steve and obviously plays more games than us.

All in all, a new standard in LAN parties was set when we actually blew a fuse!!!  We had a minor shortage of patch cables (as expected) and I did not have an SVIDEO cable handy for Neal to throw his image up on the big screen, but I will for next time.

Hopefully, some company will make a new car type game with lots of action, destruction and "fox and hound" type chasing before then!

Settlers of the Stoneage

I picked up this new settlers game, the reviews have been good. I think all four of us liked it. Instead of settlements, you have camps (only 5). You don't upgrade a settlement to a city, you get victory points by building new camps, once all five are placed, you must remove a camp to place a camp. You have no roads in this game but you have explorers that can uncover chits along the board if you have advanced enough in two of the four skill lines. This is a very solid game, I just wish we could at least play 5 player.

Settlers of the Stoneage

A last minute game night at my house. We wanted to play Stoneage again, the only thing that sucks is that it's only good for up to 4 people. Don used the same strategy on this game but won this time!
