Game Night: Saturday 9-7-2002
Another game night at our house, after Ray
neglected to call or email anyone that he was not going to be home on Saturday
night. We all showed up at Ray and Jen's packages in hand and smiles on our
faces.
After a quick stop at Taco Bell, we broke
out Puerto Rico. Ashley and Don didn't care for this game as much as the others
have. They thought it didn't have enough action. I think it's the other way
around, the game has no down time, I love that. John and Don sucked up the
victor points all game long and kicked ass. I made one bad mistake that cost me
second place, I bought the wrong large building, it was the difference of 7
points, that would have done the trick, but that's life in Puerto Rico!

I am not sure how far we got in Lord of
the Rings but I know we only got to the second scenario before Ashley fumbled
the ring and Sauron killed us all!

Game Night: Saturday 9-21-2002
Entdecker is an interesting game. It is like Carcassonne on
water. I went for big island discovery, while Mike kept discovering Gilligan's
island. Once you discover the entire island, you settlers get to visit stack up
at the 8 tribal chieftain huts. At the end of the game, each hut is worth big
bonus points to the person with the most settlers. And I do mean BIG bonus
points. Mike got 30 of his 58 points via the "tribal Bonus". Definably worth
playing again.

Game Night: Saturday 9-27-2002
This card game is based loosely on the old Car Wars game. In
actuality, it is a simple moron game where you throw damage at cars and there
are defense cards. Not really a good effort by Steve Jackson games. Play this
one with the kids.

It had been a long time since we played Titan, but it is such
a simple game (once you master the confusing rules). I had bet the farm on the
Cyclops, and when John's Dragon bit his head off and ate it, I was left with a
bunch of worthless stock options. Ed, on the other had, had picked 2 of the 3
winning creatures and won in a landslide.

I always love Condottiere, but rarely win due to my
propensity (oh, big word) to manage my cards well and forget about the strategy
required to win. This time I left Don do all the card management and focused
exclusively on winning and gaining territories. You would not have recognized
me as I did not "caw caw" my way through the games!

Jen returned from work and joined us for the simple, but loud
Liar's dice! Little did we know that she had the (snake) eye of the tiger! She
bitch slapped John in a close one, and wailed on me. It wasn't even close.
Needless to say, she was very happy.
