Limits
Mississippi Queen

Ed Don John P.
Mike M. Noelle Ray
Steve

A smaller game night, with Ed and Alias Johnny, Don and Noel, Mike & Christine, and myself.  Jen sat out the first game and we started with Limits.  A game of remembering how many of what color card has been played.  A good kitchen table game, but for me it never builds enough excitement or anticipation.  Done was doing a superb job of memorizing, I could not remember who's turn it was.  Mike stuck around long enough to play the first game, then they got going.  I felt bad because I had to excuse myself at 7pm for 30 minutes for an online meeting, to which I am embarrassed to even admit participating in.

Limits Winner Don 3 - John P. 0 - Mike M. -1 - Noelle -1 - Ed -2 - Ray -5

Someone suggested this and I leap all over it.  One of my favorite games of all time, MQ.  Once again, calling the southern belles, 'bitches' was frowned upon.  This was actually one of the most exciting (and unfortunately longest) game ever.  Many lead changes, with Noel passing me just before the last turn, and Don flying by my on the last turn.  I went from the lead to 3rd in the last 2 minutes.  Although Don came in second, his boat is still embedded in that beach house.

Mississippi Queen Winner Noelle - Don - Ray - Ed - Steve - John P.

Danger
Evo

Ed Don Jen
John P. Noelle Ray

An even smaller night, with Ed and Alias Johnny, Don & Noel, and Jen & myself.  (The TRW company party pulled out major regular participants)  We opened a new game, Evo.  Be the most evolved dinosaur before the meteor hits and kills you all.   I was set up the best to win down the stretch, but alas the meteor arrived early and left me in second.  It is VERY much like Medici where you spend your score points to purchase gene's to hopefully allow you to score even more points.  You score mostly by surviving, which is easier than it sounds.  There are various genes for surviving cold, hot, a fight, initiative (turn order), and even a discount gene.

Evo Winner Don 38 - Ray 33 - Ed 29 - Noelle 29 - John P. 28

Jen wanted a mindless game.  Well, she got it.  Danger is "war" and solitaire combined into mindnuming card flipping.  Oh yeah, she slaughtered us.

Danger Winner Jen 210 - Ed 166 - John P. 166 - Ray 144 - Don 119

Attila
Cloud 9
Titan: The Arena

Ed John P. Ray
Steve

As is usual with the holidays, it was a small turn out.  Ed, Johnny, Steve and myself.  The first game we yanked out was Atilla.  After a quick rules review (5 min) we were off.  You try to build up influence in the Germanic tribe that will be the most powerful by the end of the 4th century of play.  Although I did great the first century, I found myself coming in 2nd in almost every tribe.  This put me in contention, for a final century move.  Unfortunately for both of us, Ed and I decided that we could both take control of Blue and wasted a turn topping each other for control.  Since I went first, I blame Ed.  Steve pulled away and the rest, as they say, is history.

Attila Winner Steve 72 - John P. 66 - Ray 57 - Ed 52

Next, we pulled out the old favorite Titan.  This took almost 10 min of rules review, as we play it so infrequently and the rules resemble a Microsoft manual (not in size, but in clarity).  There are only 5 Rounds in the game, and after 2, I was already out of contention for first.  So, I embarked on a plan I called, "Operation Screwjob".  I realized that if a couple of things went my way, AND I could kill Ed's but Orange Dragon creature, that I could come in second.  In order to succeed, I had to knock Ed down.  If I knocked Steve down, I would come in third by at least one point.  So, much to Ed's chagrin, I killed his OD and assured my place of mediocrity.

Titan: The Arena Winner Steve 12 - Ed 5 - Ray 5 - John P. 3

The final request was for mindless, and Ed selected Cloud 9.  Now we play with 2 house rules.  One, if you can make it, you have to (but you do NOT have to play a pass-the-barn).  Ed hates this rule, but based on the optional advanced rules, this seems the right way to do it.

The second house rules essentially cost me the game, as we say after someone reaches 45 points, you FINISH the current balloon ride before declaring a winner.  This just seems more fair.  Although I reached 45 first, Ed finished the turn with 46 and thus won.

Cloud 9 Winner Ed 47 - Ray 46 - Steve 39 - Prich 32

Next week we meet at Buca di Beppo at 6pm before going to game night.

Time's Up!
Werewolf

Byron Don Ed
Jen John M. John P.
Michelle Mike M. Noelle
Pete Ray Steve
Suzanne

Well other than a late game last week of Time's up, we have played endless hours of Werewolf.  For those of you unfamiliar with this college party game (aka Mafia), players are dealt a card which labels them as a werewolf or a towns person.  Each night the werewolves (2) murder a towns person.  When dawn comes, the town lynches a player (which they hope is a werewolf).  After the mob selects their victim, their card is revealed and everyone knows whether or not they lynched a werewolf or an innocent.  In either case, the cycle repeats until both werewolves are dead, or the  werewolves remaining equal the size of the town (in which case the werewolves win).  The game requires 9 or MORE players.

Time's Up! Winner Pete & Michelle
